Corp member still in kidnappers custody despite N10m ransom payment

The family of an abducted National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, identified as Abba, is facing a harrowing period of uncertainty as they express grave fears that he may have been killed despite the payment of a N10 million ransom.
According to sources close to the situation, all communication with the kidnappers ceased abruptly once the significant sum was delivered, leaving the family without proof of life or further instructions for his release.
While the abductors had initially followed up the payment with additional demands for motorcycles, the family declined to fulfill these new requests after the captors went silent.
The prolonged lack of contact from the kidnappers has led the family to the painful conclusion that Abba may no longer be alive.
In response to this silence, and in accordance with Islamic tradition, preparations have commenced to observe Janaza (funeral) prayers in absentia on Friday, March 6.
This rite, known as Salat al-Gha’ib, is performed for deceased Muslims when the body is not present, reflecting the family's transition from hopeful negotiation to somber mourning.
Despite the grim outlook, the family remains deeply appreciative of the outpouring of support, donations, and prayers received from the public during this ordeal. They continue to hold a small measure of hope, stating that if Abba is still alive, they pray for his safe return, while simultaneously asking for divine forgiveness and eternal rest for him should he have passed on.
As of now, security agencies and NYSC authorities have not issued an official confirmation regarding the status or whereabouts of the corps member.
