The City Boy Movement (CBM) has set its sights on garnering ten million votes for President Tinubu’s re-election bid.

The group made this known at its maiden three-day National Retreat in Abuja, bringing together key national leaders, state directors, and stakeholders to aggressively scale grassroots mobilization for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

The retreat, running from Monday, July 13 to Wednesday, July 15, aims to strengthen the organization’s nationwide structure and prepare its members to actively champion the federal government’s reform policies.

A major highlight of the opening ceremony was the formal swearing-in of the movement’s National Working Committee (NWC) and State Directors, who took their oaths of office to drive the group’s agenda across the country.

Addressing the participants, the Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, called on young Nigerians to move away from passive observation and take ownership of the country’s political future.

“Politics is not a game for those who sit on the sidelines. This is the time to organise, mobilise and take our message to every street, every community and every home,” Olawande stated, urging the attendees to return to their states as active ambassadors of the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Also speaking at the event, the Patron of the City Boy Movement, Barrister Seyi Tinubu, characterized the retreat as a critical preparation phase for future national engagements.

“This is a gathering of a movement and not a celebration of yesterday, but a preparation for tomorrow,” Seyi Tinubu said.

He noted that the organization has evolved into a formidable national platform committed to youth participation and democratic service, urging members to counter misinformation by engaging citizens with empathy and facts.

Unveiling the group’s long-term objectives, the Director-General of the City Boy Movement, Hon. Francis Oluwatosin Shoga, challenged members to build a disciplined, purpose-driven organization.

He highlighted key policies of the Tinubu administration such as the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), digital innovation programs, and infrastructure expansions—as practical proof of the government’s commitment to youth development.

“The City Boy Movement must become the bridge between the message and the people. We must inform, engage and empower Nigerians with clarity, facts and conviction,” Shoga declared.

He subsequently set an ambitious grassroots mobilization target for the group’s leadership across the federation.

“Our mission is clear. Our target is 10 million votes. Our strength is our people. And our time is now,” Shoga said, emphasizing that the target can only be achieved through physical, community-level presence rather than online slogans.

“Ten million votes will not come from slogans or social media. They will come from real people, real structures, real engagement and real work at the grassroots,” he concluded.
