Bamidele Alimi: This theme is especially relevant given Nigeria’s current economic landscape. Effective governance is fundamental to building a stable economy that supports innovation, entrepreneurship, and job creation. At this conference, we’ll highlight how strong institutions, transparent regulatory frameworks, and a culture of accountability are essential for sustainable growth.
We’ll discuss successful models, like Singapore’s governance framework, to illustrate how institutional reforms and anti-corruption efforts drive economic success. Additionally, we’ll explore the role of public-private partnerships and how technology can foster transparency, ultimately building public trust in governance.
You mentioned global best practices. Mrs. Coker, how do you think those lessons can be tailored to Nigeria’s unique governance and economic landscape?
Fatumata Coker: Absolutely. Each country has unique challenges, but principles such as transparency, accountability, and inclusivity are universal. We’re looking closely at how these global models can be adapted to Nigeria. For example, establishing robust anti-corruption frameworks here means not only legal reforms but also creating community awareness and engagement. We’re also emphasising the power of public-private partnerships to address critical sectors like infrastructure and healthcare, where collaboration can be transformative.
What are some of the main takeaways directors and business leaders can expect from the conference?
Bamidele Alimi: Directors and business leaders can look forward to actionable strategies for embedding good governance in their organisations.
