The Canadian Government has expressed its readiness to collaborate with the Ogun State Government, especially in the area of agriculture.
The Deputy High Commissioner of Canada to Nigeria, Teshome Nkrumah, who made this known during a courtesy visit to Governor Dapo Abiodun at Oke-Mosan office, Abeokuta, noted that the Canadian Government is on a mission to find out the opportunities in the local market.
Nkrumah who also noted that it is the plan of the Canadian Government to do business and boost trade between Canada and Nigeria, said that there would still be more to grow in terms of opportunities between the Canadian and Nigeria if both countries are very much focused and structured.
“We are on agricultural outreach to try to find out the opportunities in the local market to do business and boost trade between the two countries. We are meeting business people, entrepreneurs just to see where the opportunities are.
“We are here to build bridges, make connections and see where we can make changes to move trade between both countries forward,” he noted.
In his response, the Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun expressed his administration’s willingness to collaborate with the Canadian government, especially in the area of agriculture.
Abiodun, while noting that the visit was another way of deepening the existing relationship not only with the State, but also between the Federal Government of Nigeria and Canada in promoting trade particularly agriculture, added that his administration has done so much in agriculture.
He also added that the state was ready to build commercial relationships for socioeconomic development of both countries
