Bernardo Silva has confirmed he will leave Manchester City at the end of the 2025/26 season, bringing an end to one of the most successful chapters in the club’s modern history.

The 31-year-old midfielder, who joined from Monaco in 2017, departs after nine trophy-laden years that saw him become a central figure in City’s domestic and European dominance. In that time, Silva made 451 appearances, scoring 76 goals and providing 77 assists while helping the club secure 19 major honours, including six Premier League titles and a UEFA Champions League crown.

His understated brilliance, tactical intelligence, and relentless work rate made him a favourite among teammates and fans alike. Striker Erling Haaland once described him as “the smartest player I’ve ever played with,” while club captain Kevin De Bruyne famously dubbed him “the big little man,” praising both his influence and consistency.

Silva acknowledged his departure with a brief but emotional message to supporters, thanking the club and its fanbase for nearly a decade of shared success.

Despite his impending exit, the Portuguese international remains focused on finishing strong. City are currently second in the Premier League, chasing leaders Arsenal, and still in contention for the FA Cup, giving Silva the chance to add to his already remarkable haul before leaving as a free agent.

On the international stage, Silva has also made clear that his ambitions remain high. While he has lifted the UEFA Nations League twice with Portugal, he has set his sights on winning a major international title, such as the FIFA World Cup or the European Championship.

As he prepares for his next chapter, Silva leaves behind a legacy defined by intelligence, versatility, and quiet excellence, qualities that helped shape one of the most dominant eras in Manchester City’s history.
