The Benue State Police Command has successfully rescued 15 kidnap victims following a coordinated security operation across the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Ifeanyi Emenari, presented the rescued victims to Governor Hyacinth Alia at the Government House in Makurdi on Sunday.
Emenari revealed that the rescue was the result of a joint operation involving multiple security agencies and confirmed that all 15 individuals were found in good health.
In addition to the rescue, the police boss confirmed the arrest of seven suspects linked to the kidnapping. He stated that the suspects were apprehended through credible intelligence and are currently in custody.
This development is being hailed as a major breakthrough in the state's ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks.
This successful operation comes at a critical time for Benue State, which has faced persistent security challenges related to kidnapping and communal clashes.
The involvement of multiple agencies underscores a shift toward a more integrated security architecture under the Alia administration.
By presenting the victims directly to the Governor, the police command is signaling strong inter-governmental synergy in its anti-crime strategy.
Furthermore, the arrest of seven suspects suggests that the focus has moved beyond simple rescue missions toward the more strategic goal of "dismantling networks," a move likely intended to deter future abductions by targeting the logistical and operational arms of these criminal groups.
