The Benue State Government and the State Assembly have promised to partner with the media for the development of the state.

Governor Hyacinth Alia and Speaker of the State Assembly, Hyacinth Dajoh, made this pledge at a one-day capacity building/training workshop on economic reporting organized by the Correspondents’ Chapel, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Benue State Council, in collaboration with the Benue Investment and Property Company (BIPC).

Governor Alia, represented by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, acknowledged the role of the media in the achievements recorded by his administration in one year and assured them of better things to come.

“We will continue to support the media by creating an enabling environment for them to operate and add value to the government,” he said.

Speaker Dajoh, represented by his Senior Special Assistant on Special Duties, Terver Adom, commended the Governor and BIPC for sponsoring the training workshop.

“The media is a critical stakeholder that has a pivotal role to play in the progress and development of the country and the state in particular,” he said.

The workshop featured presentations from experts, including Sir. Tersoo Kula, Associate Professor Daniel Chile, and Dr. Raymond Asemakaha. The participants were drawn from various media organizations in the state.

In his goodwill message, Dr. Terna Francis, Director General, Benue State Quality Assurance Agency (BEQAA), commended the correspondents’ chapel for organizing the workshop.

Hon. Stephen Numbeve, State Coordinator Rural Access Agriculture Marketing Project (RAAMP), expressed hope that the training would enhance the skills of journalists in reporting economic activities in Benue state and beyond.
