ASHIA registers 183,000 beneficiaries into its scheme

Anambra State under Gov. Chukwuma Soludo’s  administration is in a hurry to attain universal health coverage in the state and accelerate every health indices towards a prosperous state.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Anambra State Health Insurance Agency (ASHIA), Dr. Simeon Onyemaechi  stated this during a meeting with the Anambra State Town Announcers (ASTA) held at ASHIA headquarters Awka.

Addressing the town announcers, Dr. Onyemaechi disclosed  that they have already registered one hundred and eighty-three thousand people into the scheme, noting that Governor Soludo has given them mandate to quickly ramp up the ASHIA beneficiaries in the state.

Dr. Onyemaechi explained that through mapping, the agency realised it has engaged critical stakeholders but has not done much in engaging those in rural communities, hence the meeting with the town announcers who disseminate information to various villages and communities, for them to take the message of ASHIA to their people for better enlightenment and understanding.

The ASHIA boss also revealed that the agency recently incorporated prostate operation into the scheme in order to serve Ndi Anambra better.

Dr. Onyemaechi later gave a one-year free insurance to all the ASTA members that attended the meeting for them to start benefitting from the scheme which he described as a catalyst to ending out-of-pocket medical expenses.

In their remarks, Mr. Aiza Nwosu from Awka and Emmanuel Nwankwo from Nanka, acknowledged ASHIA laudable project and thanked the agency and the Anambra state government for doing a wonderful work in the state through the agency,  promising to help disseminate the information in their various communities.
