Architect unveils innovative truck hub design to boost Lagos’ logistic

Nigeria’s economic capital, Lagos, is powered by logistics and haulage, but the sector’s supporting infrastructure often lags behind its rapid growth.

To address this gap, architect Oluwatunde Adegbenro in 2023 developed a design proposal for the Administrative Block of a new Truck Hub in Ibeju-Lekki, one of the country’s fastest-growing industrial corridors.

The proposal reimagines the workplace at the heart of a logistics hub, prioritizing efficiency, sustainability, and a professional civic identity.

The Administrative Block is designed not just as an office, but as the anchor of the wider hub, separating administrative activity from heavy truck operations while maintaining a visual and functional dialogue across the site.

Key features of the design include daylighting, passive ventilation, and energy-efficient strategies, reducing dependence on conventional power sources.

The scheme combines durability with contemporary architecture, bold elevations, glazed surfaces, and a clean façade composition that presents a professional face to trade partners.

Inside, the layout is built for productivity and collaboration, offering flexible office spaces, meeting suites, and support facilities.

Landscaping, circulation paths, and security buffers are seamlessly integrated, while sustainability measures ensure resilience in Lagos’ tropical climate.

Beyond functionality, Adegbenro’s design stands as a statement of intent, showing how industrial facilities can embody both efficiency and dignity, reinforcing Ibeju-Lekki’s role as a strategic hub for Nigeria’s logistics future.
