APC sponsoring protests to destabilize ADC – Spokesperson alleges

The National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has alleged that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is sponsoring public protests to destabilize the party's leadership following the high-profile defection of His Excellency Rabiu Kwankwaso.
In an official statement, the ADC claimed that agents of the ruling government have resorted to these tactics after failing to pressure the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) into taking unauthorized actions against the party.
Regarding this change in strategy, the spokesperson noted, "After meeting a brick wall with INEC, they have now changed tactics, but the objectives remain the same.”
According to the ADC, intelligence suggests that a public protest has been organized for Thursday, April 2, in Abuja.
The party alleges the demonstration is being financed by a particularly notorious minister in an effort to revive a legal challenge that the ADC describes as "suffocating in the courts under the weight of its own illegality."
Detailing the nature of the planned demonstration, the party stated, “The plan is simple: a paid crowd, posturing as aggrieved party members, will take to the streets demanding ‘David Mark Must Go.’”
The ADC alleged that the primary objective of this organized pressure is to influence the INEC Chairman to“magically upgrade and recognise an individual who resigned his position and was subsequently expelled from the ADC, to the position of National Chairman of a party he no longer belongs to.”
The party further asserted that the ruling administration is increasingly concerned by the ADC's growing political momentum, stating, “The plan by the ruling APC government to hijack the leadership of the ADC, the only viable opposition party left in the country, is real. If anything, it has assumed a new level of desperation in the past few days. They are not just afraid of our momentum. They are afraid of what happens when the Nigerian people start paying attention and begin to believe that change is possible.”
While affirming its commitment to remaining focused and law-abiding, the ADC vowed that it “shall remain law-abiding but will resist by all lawful and necessary means.”
The party further appealed to the Presidency noting, “If they are not acting on his orders, President Tinubu should rein in his enforcers before it is too late.”
