Your poor performance casts Buhari as a saint — Atiku’s Aide tackles Tinubu

10 Jun 2026

Demola Olarewaju, the Senior Assistant on Politics to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has said the alleged poor performance of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu have made former President Muhammadu Buhari appear as a saint by comparison.

In an interview monitored by NewsDirect, Atiku’s Aide characterized the current government as an absolute failure across every sector.

He urged the Nigerian electorate to vote the incumbent president out of office during the 2027 general elections.

Evaluating the current state of the nation, the political aide argued that the administration’s primary legacy is widespread economic volatility that has deepened poverty among the populace.

He highlighted the surging price of fuel as a major catalyst that has drastically inflated the overall cost of living.

According to Olarewaju, the administration’s policy decisions have only worsened financial hardship for citizens, noting that the price of petrol has multiplied significantly compared to rates seen during the previous government.

He emphasized that these steep increases have placed an unbearable financial burden on ordinary Nigerians.

Olarewaju also accused President Tinubu of being entirely detached from the daily challenges facing the public, specifically pointing to ongoing failures within the power sector.

He criticized the current electricity tariff banding system, stating that despite the structural classifications, stable power delivery remains non-existent.

He added that leadership remains insulated from these struggles, failing to truly empathize with the hardships of the citizenry.

The former Vice President’s aide maintained that the administration has failed to secure a tangible victory in any sector since taking power, reiterating his stance that a democratic change of leadership is necessary in the next general election cycle.
