The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi) on Sunday received Honourable (Chief) Alhaji Rasheed Idowu Falade into the APC following his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Until his resignation and defection to the APC, Falade served as the Ladi Adebutu for Governor Coordinator in Yewa South Local Government Area. He is an experienced grassroots politician who previously served as PDP Chairman of Yewa South Local Government, PDP Chairman of Ajilete Ward, Councillor representing Ajilete Ward, and Vice-Chairman of Yewa South Local Government.
Falade said his decision to join the APC was informed by his confidence in Senator Adeola’s leadership, capacity, and development agenda for Ogun State.
He added that the landmark achievements facilitated by the senator across Ogun West and beyond convinced him that Yayi possesses the competence and vision required to lead the state.
He pledged to work closely with party leaders and members to support Senator Adeola’s gubernatorial bid and secure victory for the entire APC in the forthcoming elections.
Receiving the new party member, Senator Adeola welcomed him into the progressive family and described his defection as a significant boost to the APC in Yewa South, Ogun West, and the state at large.
Senator Adeola was joined in receiving Falade by the APC deputy governorship candidate, Alhaja Kudirat Adegunwa-Balogun; Alhaji Egungbohun Dende; the Ogun State Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Honourable Olaolu Olabimtan; the Special Adviser to the Governor on Government House and General Services, Honourable Babatunde Olaotan (HBO); and Otunba Adeniyi Sanusi.
The development represents the loss of another prominent grassroots leader for the PDP and further strengthens the APC’s expanding political structure across Ogun State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
