Police arrest four suspected armed robbers, recover 25 phones, laptops, jewellery

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested four suspected members of an armed robbery syndicate allegedly operating around Iju-Ishaga and Oke-Aro areas of the state.

The suspects, identified as Damilare Oluwatobi, 28; Lekan Adenuga, 30; Haruna Sheriff, 22; and David Balogun, 24, were arrested by operatives of the Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) at their hideout in Idi-Oro, Mushin.

The Command disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi.

According to the statement, the arrests followed sustained intelligence gathering and credible information on the activities of the suspected gang.

Items recovered during a search of the suspects’ hideout included 25 mobile phones, two laptop computers, a gold necklace and earrings, as well as three cutlasses.

The suspects are currently in police custody and are assisting investigators with ongoing investigations into their alleged criminal activities.

The Command said efforts were being intensified to apprehend other members of the syndicate who may be connected to the reported offences.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, commended the VCRU operatives for their swift response and intelligence-led operation.

Fatai reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks across the state and ensuring the safety and security of residents.

He also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the police.
