Protesters on Wednesday converged at the Ikeja Under Bridge in Lagos, calling on the government and security agencies to take urgent action to secure the release of 42 children and adults abducted in Oyo State.
The demonstrators urged authorities to intensify rescue efforts and ensure that the victims are returned safely to their families.
Carrying placards with various inscriptions, the protesters chanted solidarity songs, including, “Solidarity forever, we shall always fight for our rights,” as they demanded the immediate release of the kidnapped students and teachers.

Speaking during the demonstration, one of the protesters criticised security agencies over the handling of the abduction, insisting that citizens have a right to express their concerns while victims remain in captivity.
“I have every reason to shout as a citizen of this country. Teachers and pupils are in the bush, and a teacher was reportedly beheaded. You should be in the bush rescuing them instead of stopping us from speaking out,” the protester said.
