NPF arrests 4 banditry suspects, recovers AK-47 rifles in Kaduna

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has arrested four suspected bandits and recovered a cache of firearms and ammunition during an intelligence-led operation in Kaduna State.

The Force Intelligence Department Special Tactical Squad (FID-STS) carried out the operation on March 7, 2026, in Tayu, Sanga Local Government Area.

According to a statement issued on Monday by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, the suspects—identified as Abdumumini Abubakar (40), Maikano Gambo (47), Saleh Thompson (47), and Oyonyi Odango (40)—were apprehended following credible intelligence linking them to banditry in the area.

Items recovered from the suspects include four AK-47 rifles with magazines, 80 rounds of 7.62 x 39mm ammunition, and one locally fabricated pistol with 20 rounds of 9mm ammunition.

Investigations by the police indicated that the suspects are connected to several violent criminal activities within the region.

The Police added that efforts are ongoing to track down fleeing members of the criminal network and to recover additional weapons.

Meanwhile, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, commended the operatives for their professionalism and dedication, reiterating the commitment of the Force to tackling banditry and safeguarding lives and property nationwide.

The NPF assured the public of its resolve to dismantle criminal networks and urged citizens to continue providing useful information to security agencies.
