The Osun Police Command on Tuesday said it had put in place comprehensive security measures to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free Eid-el-Kabir celebration across the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan, disclosed this in a statement issued in Osogbo, assuring residents of the command’s readiness to safeguard lives and property during the festive period.
Gotan said security personnel had been strategically deployed to entry and exit points across the state to prevent the influx of criminal elements.
He added that officers had also been stationed on highways, at places of worship, recreation centres, parks and other public spaces to maintain order before, during and after the celebrations.
The CP urged residents to cooperate with security personnel, noting that officers had been directed to remain professional, civil and respectful of citizens’ fundamental rights.
He further advised residents to abide by existing laws and celebrate responsibly without causing disruptions.
