The National Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has directed party members and the public to disregard results being circulated from the ongoing senatorial direct primary elections in Ekiti, Lagos, Ondo, and other states across the country.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Party described the results as unauthorized and contrary to the directive of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).
In a disclaimer issued by the Office of the National Chairman in Abuja and signed by Abdulkarim Bala Kwali, the party said the announcement of results from various states was premature and violated established procedures guiding the conduct of the primaries.
According to the statement, the NWC had expressly directed that no senatorial primary result should be announced until the exercise had been properly reviewed, verified, and approved by the relevant committee.
The APC stressed that figures currently being circulated in some states do not represent the official position of the party and should, therefore, be ignored by members, supporters, and the general public.
“The attention of the National Secretariat has been drawn to various results being announced across several states regarding the Senatorial Direct Primaries,” the statement read.
It added that the unauthorized announcements directly contravened the directive of the National Secretariat and the NWC, which mandated that no results should be made public at the senatorial level pending formal verification and approval.
The ruling party assured stakeholders that it remained committed to conducting a free, fair, and credible primary process across the country.
The APC further stated that authentic results from the senatorial primaries would be formally communicated after the conclusion and ratification of the entire exercise.
