The CityBoy Movement has inaugurated its state executives and coordinators across the 30 local government areas of Osun State, with a target of registering 250,000 youths as members.
Speaking on Sunday at the inauguration held in Osogbo, State Coordinator Engr. Kayode Sowade reaffirmed support for President Bola Tinubu, urging members to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Sowade described the inauguration as the beginning of a broader grassroots engagement aimed at mobilising young people and communicating government policies and opportunities to them.
He urged the newly inaugurated local government and area office coordinators to educate youths about available programmes and assist eligible beneficiaries in accessing them.
He charged the coordinators to engage young people directly, listen to their concerns, explain government programmes and build trust with members of their communities.
According to him, “Our target over the next thirty days is to register 250,000 Osun youths as members of the CityBoy Movement.”
“Today, we are inaugurating foot soldiers of progress. We are the evidence that Osun youths believe in Nigeria again. We are not lazy youths; we are CityBoys: tech-savvy, skilled and Tinubu’s soldiers!”
“When we started the CityBoy Movement in Osun State, some people asked why we chose to stand with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Grand Commander of the Federal Republic. Our answer has never been about making noise. It is about what we believe his administration is doing to change the direction of our country. The President has shown that he is working, and the CityBoy has shown movement.”
“He floated the Naira and cleared over $7 billion in FOREX backlog to stabilise our economy and restore investors’ confidence. Today, we have the highest FX reserves in the last 18 years.”
“He fought for and secured Local Government Autonomy through the Supreme Court so that money now goes directly to our LGAs in Osun.”
“He increased FAAC allocations so states now get almost three times what they used to get, and he has re-equipped our Armed Forces to fight insecurity with new technology,” Sowade said.
Earlier, the Osun State Patron of the movement, Femi Oyetola, said the Osun chapter remained committed to supporting President Tinubu, citing federal road projects and the appointment of Osun indigenes to national positions as areas where he said the state had benefited from the administration.
He commended President Tinubu for the approval of the construction of the Iwo-Ibadan, Ibadan-Ife and Gbongan-Osogbo roads, among other projects.
Oyetola urged members of the movement to return to their communities and mobilise support for the President, stressing the need for a coordinated structure from the polling unit to the state level.
He said, “In the last few years, Osun State has benefited significantly from the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, particularly in the area of infrastructure. For the first time in many years, the Federal Government has approved several major road projects connecting Osun State to other parts of the country.”
“These include the Iwo–Ibadan Road, Ibadan–Ife Road, Gbongan–Osogbo Road and several other critical road projects. These projects will improve connectivity, stimulate economic activities and create opportunities for our people.”
“In terms of political patronage and appointments, I am also happy to announce that Osun State has continued to receive remarkable recognition under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
“Osun has produced Professor Segun Aina as the youngest Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) in Nigerian history, as well as other distinguished Osun indigenes who have been entrusted with important responsibilities at the national level, including leadership positions in agencies such as the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST),” he said.
