The City Boy Movement of the All Progressives Congress in Ondo State has vowed to deliver one million votes for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in the January 2027 presidential election.
The state director of the movement, Oluwafemi Ayejusunle, stated this on Tuesday at a campaign rally held in Ikare-Akoko, in the Akoko South-West Local Government Area of the state.
He said the rally was organised to sensitise residents of the state on the need to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards and participate actively in the forthcoming election.
Ayejusunle said, “Today’s gathering brings together members of the City Boy Movement and stakeholders at the state level. We are here to sensitise our people and ensure that they collect their Permanent Voter Cards to eventually translate into votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“In Ondo State, we discovered that we have about 2.5 million registered voters. In the last election, we recorded 369,000 votes for Asiwaju. Unfortunately, we still have about 1.9 million registered voters whose votes were not captured.
“So, we are doing everything possible to ensure that these undecided voters are mobilised to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. That is part of the reason for the movement and one of the activities that brought us here today.”
Ayejusunle, who expressed optimism about Tinubu’s victory in the forthcoming poll, said Nigerians had become more informed about the administration’s activities and would reward the President with another term.
“I am very optimistic that he will emerge victorious because Nigerians have seen what he has been doing. This time around, Nigerians are better informed about what is happening in government.
“They are aware of what he has done and what he intends to do. So, they will not take it for granted. They will ensure that he is re-elected. I am therefore very optimistic that he is going to be re-elected,” he declared.
Speaking at the programme, the Ondo North Senatorial Coordinator of the movement, Tajudeen Ogun, said the group was mobilising support for Tinubu because of what he described as the administration’s achievements.
Ogun said, “We gathered here today because we want to see more dividends of democracy. Since 1999, we have not witnessed the level of democratic dividends that we are seeing now.
“Since President Bola Ahmed Tinubu assumed office, we have seen a lot of positive developments in Ondo State. Even in Ondo North, we have two substantive ministers who are working, while Ondo State has three substantive ministers. They are all doing well, alongside our other leaders and many other people contributing to the development of the state.
“Many of the things we had been yearning for over a long period are now being addressed under President Tinubu. In some cases, we did not even have to ask before the President took action to address our needs.”
