Alleged N1trn revenue: Osun APC, Adeleke at loggerheads over funds utilization

•APC is telling lies, we have never received up to N1trn - Adeleke's pokesperson
The Osun state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has levelled an accusation of financial mismanagement against the administration of Governor Senator Ademola Adeleke.
The state APC chapter, through its Chairman Tajudeen Lawal, claimed that the Adeleke administration has received an astronomical N1 trillion in revenue from November 2022 to September 2025, yet has "little or nothing to show for it," particularly in the critical education sector.
The APC provided a specific breakdown of its alleged revenue figures: N25 billion in the last two months of 2022, N182 billion in 2023, N333 billion in 2024, and N310 billion from January to September 2025. The party zeroed in on the third quarter of 2025 (July–September), during which it claimed the state received a "whooping N124 billion" in Federal Allocation, averaging N41 billion monthly, citing the state's own budget implementation report.
According to the APC, the alleged massive revenue intake contrasts sharply with the economic hardship faced by Osun citizens and the rising costs in tertiary education.
The party highlighted recent student protests at the University of Ilesa (UNILESA) over what it termed "satanic school and accommodation fees."
The APC lamented the imposition of fees as high as N800,000 for a room per session in UNILESA and pointed out that similar "luciferian school fees" and accommodation costs, sometimes reaching N1.5 million for tuition and up to N1 million for accommodation, were causing students to "gasp for breath and survival" at the Osun State University (UNIOSUN) in Osogbo.
The opposition argued that the administration’s fees set a precedent for shylock landlords to exploit students.
Tackling the APC, Olawale Rasheed, the Governor’s Spokesperson, fiercely dismissed the APC’s claims as "fake news," a "devilish fabrication," and "mischievous propaganda" aimed at rubbishing the administration’s widely attested performance.
Rasheed firmly denied that the state had received anything close to one trillion naira since Governor Adeleke assumed office, asserting that the state resources have been judiciously managed to meet critical needs across health, infrastructure, education, and workers' welfare.
The Spokesperson then went on to list a catalogue of achievements, insisting that Osun people appreciate value for money under Adeleke.
He cited the completion of nearly 322 kilometers of roads, the renovation of 200 health centres and more than 100 schools, and ongoing major projects including dualisation across several towns, the rehabilitation of water works, and the upgrading of Osogbo stadium to a five-star standard.
Addressing the financial aspect, Rasheed highlighted that Governor Adeleke has not borrowed a single kobo since 2022 and has succeeded in reducing the state’s humongous debt stock by 40%, according to the Federal Debt Management Office.
He also pointed to critical welfare measures, including the payment of half-salary arrears owed to workers a debt the APC administration failed to liquidate and the enrolment of over 30,000 pensioners in the state health insurance scheme.
Regarding the education sector, which the APC accused the government of neglecting, the Spokesperson stated that the Nigerian Union of Teachers has repeatedly applauded Governor Adeleke for his attention to their welfare and training.
He provided a specific metric, Osun State’s ranking in the NECO examinations has dramatically improved from 33rd position under the APC to seventh under the current administration.
Rasheed further stated that the state’s infrastructure deficit, which stood close to 80% in 2022, has been reduced by 40%.
The overall impact of the state's expenditure, he concluded, is being felt across all sectors, from pensioners and workers to farmers and artisans, suggesting that the APC is simply a party "set for another rejection in 2026."
