AFCON: We are not afraid of Osimhen, Moses, Lookman- South Africa captain, Williams

South Africa’s goalkeeper, Ronwen Williams has insisted that their defence has been rock solid, adding that keeping the likes of Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman and Moses at bay won’t be too much of a problem.

Williams believes strongly that the South African backline can handle Osimhen, Lookman, Simon

The captain of the Bafana Bafana said this during a pre-match press conference on Tuesday.

Nigeria will play South Africa in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations semifinal.

Lookman has netted three goals in the tournament while Osimhen has scored once and won the game-winning penalty in the hard-fought 1-0 win over Ivory Coast.

Simon has also forced an own goal against Equatorial Guinea.

Bafana Bafana has kept the goals out with four consecutive clean sheets.

Asked if he was prepared to face Simon, Osimhen and Lookman, Williams said, “Definitely. We are looking forward to the challenge. It’s going to be tough but we’ve been facing similar players throughout the tournament and I think our defence has been rock solid.”

“We have defended extremely well as a team. It’s not about me, it’s about the team. We pride ourselves in our defending, you can see our strikers assist us.

“The back four has been amazing throughout the tournament so we know it’s going to be a tough challenge but one that we are looking forward to.”
