Adeleke campaign denies rumoured plan to join APC

The Imole Campaign Council has clarified that the recent visit of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was strictly a political tradition following off-cycle elections and not a move to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement issued on Friday by the Chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee for the campaign council, Rep. Bamidele Salam, the group dismissed widespread rumors suggesting that the governor and his team were preparing to switch political allegiances.
According to the statement, the courtesy visit allowed Governor Adeleke to express appreciation to the President for ensuring that electoral authorities and security agencies maintained neutrality during the Osun State governorship election.
“Governor Adeleke, like every other Governor who emerged victorious in an off-cycle election, has a responsibility to show respect and appreciation to the office of the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces,” Salam stated.
The campaign council noted that the meeting provided a constructive platform for both leaders to discuss matters centered on peace, security, and socio-economic progress in Osun State following the election period.
Reiterating Governor Adeleke’s political stance, the council refuted claims that defection was ever part of the discussions held at the State House.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the visit of Mr. Governor and top members of his campaign team had absolutely nothing to do with a plan to move to the All Progressives Congress as being insinuated in certain quarters. We wish to state unequivocally that at no stage during the visit to Mr. President was the issue of decamping to the APC discussed,” the statement added.
The council expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for receiving the delegation and assured the electorate in Osun State that Governor Adeleke remains fully dedicated to delivering on his administration’s governance agenda.
