AAUA student leader, Ayandare Modupe, dies by suicide after church vigil

Tragedy struck at the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba, Ondo State, as a 500-level student, Ayandare Modupe, took her own life in the early hours of the morning. Ayandare, who was the President of the Department of Agronomy, was said to have attended a church vigil before dying by suicide around 4am.

Her body was found beside the church, near Sportless Villa, leaving the university community in shock and grief.

The Students Union Government, in a statement by its spokesman, Comr. Olaogbebikan Noble, expressed anguish over the incident, describing it as a painful loss.

Ayandare’s death has sent shockwaves through the campus, with friends and colleagues struggling to come to terms with the tragedy.

The university authorities have yet to comment on the incident, but counselling services are expected to be made available to students affected by the tragedy.

According to him: “The law enforcement agency has been informed already and all hands are on the desk in getting to the root of the situation. Be rest assured that justice will be served and the law enforcement agency will do a thorough investigation.”
