Ogun So-Safe nabs suspected cultist with gun
The So-Safe Corps in Ogun State on Thursday apprehended a suspected cultist who had been terrorizing the state.
A statement by the So-Safe Corps spokesman, Moruf Yusuf, quoted the Corps Commander, Soji Ganzallo, as saying that the suspect was arrested while responding to a distress call.
Residents had alerted the corps of possible attacks from some men living in an abandoned flooded building of 20 rooms at Ijeun Tuntun in Abeokuta, where the suspect occupied one of the two rented rooms.
According to Ganzallo, the So-Safe team was able “to apprehend the kingpin, Mr Akeem Yekinni, a 48-year-old man, who resides at the said building at Nawar-ud-Deen, Ijeun Tuntun.”
Ganzallo said the suspect, who has refused to name other members of his team, had his room searched, saying “a double-barrelled local pistol and a live cartridge was found wrapped with a cloth and kept in a travelling bag.”
He added that the cultist and the exhibits found in his room had been transferred to the Anti-Cultism Unit of the Nigeria Police Force in Oke-Ijemo, for onward transfer to the State Police Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta.
