Eid-el-Maulud: Umahi salutes Muslim faithful in Ebonyi, urges them to reassess virtues
Gov. David Umahi of Ebonyi has admonished Muslims worldwide to use the Eid-el-Maulud celebration as a period to reawaken, revaluate love and peaceful coexistence among all human beings.
Umahi made the remarks on Sunday, in a statement by Mr. Chooks Oko, Special Assistant to the governor on Media and Strategy to mark the 2022 Eid-el-Maulud celebration.
Recall that the day was in commemoration of the birth of Prophet Muhammad.
The governor added that it was also a season of soul searching and thanksgiving as well as imbibing the deep spiritual virtues of the Prophet.
“It is the marking of the birthday of a most great personality that stands for love, peace and tolerance and as such, should be a period for us to ask ourselves if we are living according to his dictates.
“As you celebrate, do so in happiness with a resolve to be closer to the Almighty in words and deeds,” he admonished.
He, however, urged them to observe the celebration in strict adherence to the Holy Book.
