A member of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria has allegedly shot a 30-year old man, Omojesu Ayomide known as ‘hot water’ who went out to buy food in Ijoko area, of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government in Ogun State.
It was gathered that the incident happened around 23:00 hours on Sunday in Olorunsogo Street Gasline area of Ijoko.
A member of the community, Sunday Adedeji, said that the victim didn’t argue with the security man.
“My junior brother was preparing our dinner, and I have to stay outside because the heat was too much.
“Suddenly, I noticed that the vigilante followed the brother (Omojesu Ayomide) to the front of our house and saying ‘who is this man?’ and the brother was telling him that this is my house and if you don’t believe knock the door and confirm.
“The next thing the vigilante did was that he cocked his gun and shot him, and he (Omojesu Ayomide) didn’t argue with him (vigilante).”
According to the report gathered, the deceased (Omojesu Ayomide) and vigilante had a misunderstanding two years ago which was later settled amicably.
According to the Chairman of the C.D.A, the vigilante trespassed his boundary.
“The vigilante is only for one street, why will he go to another street to kill someone?
“We didn’t order him to kill someone. He called the person who is heading the security of the street that someone is having issue with him but he decided to follow the deceased to his own street, unfortunately he had killed the innocent boy before the arrival of the head of security,” he said.
The C.D.A chairman took the suspect to the police station who has now been detained by the operatives of the Nigeria Police divisional headquarter, Sango Ota of Ogun State.
The body of the victim (Omojesu Ayomide) has been deposited at the Ifo morgue.
All efforts to get reaction from the suspect by our correspondent prove abortive.
