Man pays friend N5000 to kill pregnant wife in Ogun

Ogun State police command said it has arrested a 35-year-old man, Eluyera Wasiu at Ogijo, Sagamu local government area of the state for hiring his friend, one Adeniyi Samuel to kill his 29-year-old pregnant wife.

According to a statement from the Spokesman of the state police command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, Wasiu and his alleged friend, Adeniyi were arrested after some members of public sent a distress call to the DPO, Ogijo divisional headquarters on the 1st of January 2022, over two men were fighting.

The members of the public were said to have feared that the two men might eventually killed themselves because of how they have engaged themselves hence, their reason for asking the police to intervene before the unthinkable happens.

Upon this distress call, the DPO Ogijo Division, CSP Muhammed Baba was said to have quickly detailed his men to the scene, where the two suspects were promptly arrested.

The Police disclosed further that during interrogation to know the cause of the fight between the two, Adeniyi was said to have opened up and informed the police that his friend, Eluyera Wasiu contracted him to kill his pregnant wife, one Bola Taiwo.

He explained further that Eluyera Wasiu promised to give him N10,000 for the job, out of which he already gave him N5,000 with a promise to pay the balance after the dastardly act.

Preliminary investigation according to the police revealed that, Wasiu Eluyera was married to Bola Taiwo but they got separated due to irreconcilable differences.

Wasiu said to have later got married to another woman who is presently living with him.

He was said to have later met with his former wife and the two started going out together again which resulted to pregnancy.

In order not to upset his new wife, Wasiu was said to have asked his former wife, Bola to terminate the pregnancy but she refused.

Having tried all he could to abort the pregnancy to no avail, Wasiu decided to eliminate the woman and the pregnancy.

Wasiu in his confessional statement was said to have stated that he had twice bought food for her former pregnant wife from one eatery and laced the food with poison, but the lady by providence did not eat the food.

He said it was when all his personal efforts to kill her failed that he contracted Adeniyi Taiwo to help him eliminate her.

He confessed further that, he personally took Adeniyi to the woman’s house and gave him her picture for easy identification.

But when he didn’t carry out the assignment as agreed, he demanded for the refund of the advance payment he made to him, and his refusal led to the fight which eventually led to their arrest.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole, has ordered a full scale investigation of the case with the view to arraign the suspect in court as soon as investigation is concluded.
