Ogun police arrest fleeing robbers with stolen Lagos car

Ogun State police command said it has arrested two suspected armed robbers in the early hours of Tuesday, while escaping with a vehicle they hijacked in Lagos.

According to statement from the Spokesman of the state police command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the suspects; Raymond Chukwudi and Ekene Okoro were arrested by men of Federal Highway Patrol at Ajebandele, a boundary between Ogun and Ondo state while on stop and search.

The release explained that “during the operation, the operatives stopped a Toyota  Fortuner Jeep with registration number AGL 834 GU with three occupants.

“On interrogation, the occupants whose countenance looked suspicious were unable to give satisfactory information about the vehicle, hence the policemen put a call across to the owner, whose phone number was seen on the particular for further enquiry.

“Sensing that the game was over, one of the occupants took to his heel, while the other two were quickly apprehended.

The owner of the vehicle was later contacted, and he explained that the robbers invaded his house at Iriferiogoma Street Lakowe Phase 2 Ibeju Lekki, where they forcefully dispossessed him of the vehicle. The two suspects were handed over to the DPO Ogbere for investigation.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Edward Awolowo Ajogun has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to state criminal investigation and intelligence department for onward transfer to Lagos state command, where the culprits will be prosecuted.
