40,000 millet farmers to receive soft loan in Jigawa

Forty thousand members of the millet farmers association will receive agriculture soft loan in Jigawa State to boost millet farming in the state under the federal government support programme.

The state coordinator of the association in Dutse, Alhaji Aminu Adamu, announced it.

Alhaji Adamu has said 40,000 hectares of land has been earmarked for the millet farmers in the State.

The aim of the programme is to provide sufficient food to people across the country.

The coordinator stated that each farmer is expected to collect eight bags of NPK fertilizer and Urirear as well as insecticide for pest control.

Adding that sprayer machines would be provided to all the farmers, he explained that at the end of the season, each farmer is expected to pay back the recovery of the loan given to them.
