3 docked over alleged possession of ammunition
The Police in Lagos on Thursday arraigned three men before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’Court for allegedly being in possession of 10 live rounds of ammunition.
The defendants—Oluwaseun Babatunde (33), Adewuyi Mojeed (25), and Ebuka Igwe (22)—whose addresses were not provided, are facing a two-count charge of breach of peace and unlawful possession of ammunition.
They pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Prosecutor Insp Ayodele Adeosun told the court that the defendants committed the offences on March 8, at about 9:00 p.m., at Magbon Imeke, Badagry, Lagos.
Adeosun alleged that the defendants conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace, creating commotion in the area.
He alleged that the defendants were found in possession of 10 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, for which they could not provide a satisfactory explanation.
“The offences contravene Sections 168 and 330 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015,” he said.
Chief Magistrate Patrick Adekomaiya granted the defendants bail in the sum of N500,000 each, with two sureties in like sum and thereafter adjourned until May 5 for mention.
