On Friday, two taxi driver, Ojukwu Igwe and Chinwe Edah, appeared in a Grade I Area Court, Mpape, Abuja, for allegedly fleeing with businessman’s Toyota Corolla worth N1.45 million.

The police charged Igwe and Edah, who reside in Nassarawa state with four counts of criminal conspiracy, criminal breach of trust, cheating, and criminal misappropriation.

The Prosecution Counsel, Stanley Nwaforaku told the court that sometime in April 2017, the complainant entrusted a Toyota Corolla car worth N1.45 million to Ojukwu for commercial use.

The prosecution said that Ojukwu criminally conspired with Chinwe and told him that his car was stolen.

Nwaforaku said, during police investigation, it was discovered that the defendants converted the vehicle to their personal use and refused to disclose its whereabouts.

The matter, he said, was reported at Mpape Police station by the complainant, Amos Okpanachi, of pinoyi village Abuja.

The offence, Nwaforaku said, contravened the provisions of sections 97, 312,322 and 309 of the Penal Code.

The defendants however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Judge, Salihu Ibrahim, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N2 million with one reasonable and reliable surety in like sum.

He adjourned the case until Feb.15 for hearing.
