The Southern Kaduna People’s United-Association (SOKAPU) has raised alarm over a fresh wave of attacks in Southern Kaduna.
The association noted that 14 persons have been killed and 30 individuals have been abducted in renewed attacks in the area.
In a statement by its National President, Engr. Tabara Samuel Kato, SOKAPU acknowledged the relative peace achieved under Governor Uba Sani and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that their leadership marked a significant improvement over previous administrations.
However, the group expressed concern that the peace is being threatened by renewed attacks across several communities, including Ungwar Rimi, Chawai, Kamaru, Wikeh, Gadanaji, Awon, Kabara, Rumaya, Farin Dutse, Damakasuwa, and Tsam. Between October 23 and 31, 2025, at least 14 people were killed and 30 kidnapped, while farmlands and storage barns were deliberately destroyed, heightening fears of food scarcity.
The group also called on both the Federal and Kaduna State governments to urgently reinforce security measures to protect lives and property.
SOKAPU highlighted the October 7 destruction of crops in Kabara, Kagarko Local Government Area, which came a day after a protest to the palace of the Ere Koro, where villagers demanded government intervention following incessant herdsmen attacks.
“Farmers and herders are traditional partners. These so-called farmers-herders clashes are often stage-managed crises orchestrated by powerful cattle owners seeking political or economic advantage,” the statement said.
The group also dismissed claims, previously promoted by former Governor El-Rufai, that “Fulani don’t forgive and don’t forget,” stressing that such narratives are divisive and inaccurate.
SOKAPU emphasized that cattle do not stray into farms on their own, the owners direct the animals, making them the primary aggressors.
The group also warned that certain political actors opposed to the current governments may be exploiting these clashes to destabilize the region, while threats of additional attacks continue to target already traumatized communities
