10th NASS: Why Senate President should go North West – Youth group

The Youth Movement for Good Governance (YMGG), has advocated that the Senate President of the 10th National Assembly be zoned to the Northwest region following its contribution to the success of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the presidential election.

The Convener of the movement, Aminu Haruna Maipampo, in a statement that “the North West would be marginalized if not given the leadership of the upper chamber despite its contribution and commitment to the success of the APC in the just concluded Presidential election.”

He stressed that the region was a major player in ensuring the party emerged the winner of the 2023 general elections.

According to him, “the North West deserves the Senate Presidency in the interest of fairness, equity and justice in the country.”

He added that the Zone had never produced the president nor deputy president of the Senate despite its role in maintaining stability in the red chamber, stressing it was only proper that the zone be allowed to produce the next Senate President in the 10th National Assembly.
