Zenith bank Plc has announced the appointment of Omobola Ibidapo-Obe Ogunfowora as an Independent Non-Executive Director of the bank.
The lender stated this on Wednesday in a statement by Michael Osilama Otu Company Secretary / General Counsel, that the appointment has confirmed by the Central Bank of Nigeria.
Omobola Ibidapo -Obe Ogunfowora is a relation of Oyewusi Ibidapo – Obe, the deceased former Independent non-executive director of Zenith Bank, who died on January 3rd, 2021.
Oyewusi Ibidapo – Obe was a former Vice-chancellor of the University of Lagos and a professor of system Engineering.
According to Zenith Bank, she is coming to the role with excellent academic background and corporate governance experience.
The statement read, “The Board of Director of Zenith Bank Plc is pleased to announce the appointment of Omobola Ibidapo Obe Ogunfowora as an Independent Non-Executive Director of the bank. The appointment is been confirmed by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Omobola Ibidapo- Obe Ogunfowora is a legal and corporate governance practitioner who graduated with LLB (Jon’s) from the Cardiff Law school, United Kingdom and obtained an LLM from the same University in 2002. She obtained a Masters degree (MRes) from the Queen Mary University of London, the United Kingdom in 2010 and subsequently advanced to Middlesex University, London, the United Kingdom for her doctorate degree and graduated with a PhD in Competition Law.
The Bank added that “Omobola Ibidapo – Obe Ogunfowora was a Law Lecturer at the University of Lagos, Nigeria, where she lectured at the Department of Commercial and Industrial Law
“She has been a Dispute Resolution Compliance Specialist with Ombudsman Services, United Kingdom for almost a decade and has also been a legal Counsel with Olusola Ibidapo Obe& Co legal practitioners.
Zenith Bank noted that “she has previously worked as a Research Assistant with the Lagos State Judiciary between February 2003 August 2004.
“She is a Non-Executive Director of Barton School, Lagos, Nigeria, where she is responsible for overseeing the long term development of the schools and provide strategic advisory services to ensure the sustainability of the schools.”
