Zamfara APC crisis: Court dismisses Yari’s case

The Federal High Court sitting in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital, has dismissed a case filed by former Governor Abdulaziz Yari, challenging the National Caretaker Committee Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mai Mala Buni’s decision to dissolve the existing leadership of the party in the state.

Giving his ruling, Justice Aminu Bappa Aminu said he dismissed the case because it was the internal affairs of the party which he said can be resolved internally.

Reacting to the judgment, the lead counsel to Yari’s faction, Barrister DC Enwerem said the justice applied his judicial experience in the ruling.

The barrister stated that Yari’s faction would decide if it would appeal against the judgment.

In his own reaction, the counsel for Governor Mai Mala Buni, Barrister Shamsudeen Mohammed said the court did what it was supposed to do, saying that even though the plaintiffs decide to appeal, the judgment would still be against them.

Reacting, the Publicity Secretary of Senator Kabiru Garbage Marafa’s faction of APC, Alhaji Mohammed Bello Bakyasuwa, said he was not surprised by the judgment because it was expected.

“After all, former Governor Ahmed Sani Yarima said it publicly even before the judgment that the court would dismiss the case and that was exactly what happened,” he said.
