Gov. Abba Yusuf of Kano State has extended a humanitarian gesture to Princess Zainab Ado Bayero, daughter of the late Emir of Kano, and her mother, by settling their rent bill at Morning Side Suits in Victoria Island, Lagos.
The intervention came hours before their eviction notice deadline.
This is contained in a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature in Kano on Tuesday.
According to the statement, Bature arrived in Lagos to meet with the apartment’s General Manager, Sunel Kumar, who had threatened to evict them by 3pm on Tuesday, June 25, 2024.
Princess Zainab had earlier cried out for help in the newspapers, stating that she, her brother, and mother were neglected by the royal family after the late Emir’s demise.
The Governor’s intervention was prompted by concerns that the situation did not reflect well on the royal family and Kano.
Bature stated that the Governor’s action was driven by the fact that the Ado Bayero family members are in need and deserve support as Muslim sisters and brother.
Princess Zainab and her mother expressed deep gratitude to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for his timely intervention, which saved them from eviction.
