Yuletide: Ogun FRSC commences Special patrol to minimise crashes

The Ogun Command of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) says it will commence special patrol to check excesses of motorists to minimise road crashes during the festive season.

Ogun Sector Commander,  Mr Anthony Uga, said in an interview with the on Sunday in Ota.

He said that the patrol would start on Dec 15 and end on Jan. 15, 2024.

Uga explained that both regular and  special marshals would be deployed to various strategic locations and accident-prone places to ensure a hitch-free festival.

The sector commander listed some of the areas where the presence of FRSC personnel would be needed to include Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway and the Benin-Ore Expressway,

Others are Ijebu Ode, Sagamu-Mosinmi-Ikorodu, Abeokuta-Sagamu, Abeokuta-Ibadan, Abeokuta-Ifo-Sango-Ota and Ota-Idiroko international corridor among others.

“The FRSC implored motorists to adhere to traffic rules and regulations and cooperate with the personnel and other sister agencies to stem tragedy during the festive season,” he said.

The FRSC boss said the exercise would concentrate on such offences like violation of speed limits by all categories of vehicles and route violations, dangerous driving, wrongful overtaking and lane indiscipline.

Uga listed other offences to include use of phone while driving, seat belt use violation, overloading, tyre violation (expired/substandard), speed limiting device violation, unlatched cargoes and unsecured containers.

He said others were child restraint violations, the use of drugs and intoxicating alcoholic beverages while driving, among others.
