Youths counter planned hunger protest with solidarity march in Lagos

In a surprise move, a group of youths in Lagos State held a solidarity march on Monday to counter the planned nationwide hunger protest scheduled for August 1, expressing support for the Tinubu-led administration and warning against violent protests.

A group of youths from different locations in Lagos State converged on the Lagos Island area and marched through Obalende, Ikoyi, and Lekki, expressing their support for the Tinubu-led administration.

They warned against the planned hunger protest, citing the 2020 #EndSARS protest that led to destruction of property and loss of lives in the state.

The youths claimed that the planned protest might have a recurrence and they would stop it from happening again.

They urged Nigerians to shun violent protests and instead engage in peaceful demonstrations.

The planned hunger protest, scheduled for August 1, has gained traction on social media and has been endorsed by the presidential candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, and Peter Obi.

However, the youths who marched in solidarity on Monday expressed their opposition to the protest, saying it could lead to violence and destruction.
