Woman in court for alleged breach of peace

A 30-year-old woman, Akinlotan Omolola, on Wednesday appeared before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun, for allegedly conducting herself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace.

Omolola, whose address was not provided, is facing a two-count charge of breach of peace and stealing.

The prosecutor, Insp. G.O Adebayo, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on March 20 at Oju-Ore area, Ota.

She said the defendant conducted herself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by converting N23,000 belonging to the complainant, Jooda Moshood, to personal use.

The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 390 (9) and 416 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the two charges.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr O.L. Oke, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Oke ordered that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to Ogun government.

The case was adjourned until April 24 for further hearing.
