
Wizkid, Burna, Davido, Tems sweep the Board at 2025 AAEA awards
Nigerian musicians Wizkid, Burna Boy, Davido, Asake, Tems, Darkoo, Ayra Starr, and others dominated the winners’ list at the 2025 Africa Arts Entertainment Awards (AAEA).
This year’s AAEA Music Awards saw Nigerian artists claiming multiple categories, further solidifying the country’s influence in global music.
The announcement was made on the AAEA’s official platform. Wizkid’s track “Piece of My Heart,” featuring US singer Brent Faiyaz, won the Best Afro-R&B award. Meanwhile, Davido and American star Chris Brown took home the Best Global Collaboration award for their song “Hmm.”
Asake’s hit “MMS,” featuring Wizkid, triumphed in the Best Afro-Native category. British-Nigerian singer Darkoo also had a notable win, receiving the Best Diasporan Act award for her song “Favourite Girl,” the remix of which features Nigerian artist Rema.
Burna Boy was recognised as the Overall Male Artist in Africa, while Tyla secured the Overall Female Artist of the Year and Best Female Artist for Southern Africa. Tems claimed the Best Global African Female Artist title, and OdumoduBlvck was named the Best Rapper in West Africa.
Street pop star Seyi Vibez was honoured with the Best Male Artist, West Africa award, and Ayra Starr won the Best Female Artist, West Africa category.
The AAEA awards celebrate the outstanding achievements of music artists across Africa, underscoring the continent’s diverse musical talent.
