The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, SERAP has urged the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN to immediately withdraw its recently published Customer Regulations which directed financial institutions to obtain information on customers’ social media handles for the purpose of identification.
SERAP’s Deputy Director, Kolawole Oluwadare, disclosed this on Saturday in a statement.
The group asked CBN to put on hold, the regulations because it is unlawful and not in conformity with customers’ data privacy.
