Why it is unpardonable for Oladimeji to compare Oyetola with Trump – Osun APC
The Office of the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has told the chairman of Senator Ademola Adeleke Governorship Transition Committee, Dr Muyiwa Oladimeji, to endeavour to update his knowledge of international politics and stop mischievously comparing Governor Gboyega Oyetola to the former United States President Donald Trump.
It would be recalled that Dr Oladimeji, a respectable son of Osogbo threw caution to the wind when submitting the report of his transition committee to Senator Adeleke in Osogbo, the Osun State capital on Thursday, by descending heavily on Governor Oyetola through the use of uncouth words on the sitting governor.
According to a statement issued by Kola Olabisi, the Media Adviser to the Osun State APC Chairman, Prince Gboyega Famodun, in Osogbo yesterday, it was surprising and inexcusable that the Russian-trained medical doctor has lost touch of the fact that Trump never approached any tribunal over the presidential election just the way Oyetola is at the tribunal for redress.
The Osun State APC reminded Oladimeji that there is no basis for comparing Oyetola with Trump as the former is an ardent believer in the rules of law which is the reason why he is in the tribunal, challenging the victory of Adeleke with indisputable facts and figures.
The statement explained further that in a saner society, Governor Oyetola should be honoured for his dexterity and doggedness for improving the content of the nation’s legal knowledge with reference to the conduct of credible elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in future.
According to the statement: “We won’t join the fray in insulting Dr Oladimeji just the way he had done to Governor Oyetola but we shall not fail to point to the PDP chieftain and Defender-in-Chief of a controversial governor-elect that it would be more dignifying for him to make his point(s) without necessarily describing a sitting governor as being ‘intransigent’.
“Was Dr Oladimeji not worried that by the time he was vilifying Governor Oyetola on Thursday, another sitting Oyo State PDP Governor Seyi Makinde was busy praise-singing Oyetola at the joint flag-off ceremony of the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the 91-kilometre Osogbo-Iwo-Ibadan Road with fanfare in Osogbo?
“It wasn’t for fun that Governor Makinde did not bother to look at the venue of the PDP’s presentation of the one-legged transition committee report which is not better than a worthless piece of paper as the contents were predicated on conjectures and unofficial information illegally sourced from some disgruntled civil servants.
“We shall not cease to lecture Mr. Governor-elect and his co-travellers that there is no action or inaction of Governor Oyetola that can be categorized as an illegality within the confine of his renewable first tenure that ends on November 26, 2022.
“The PDP handlers and their governor-elect should desist from fouling the media space by strangely making indecorous and inapposite noise by shouting and roaring over the legal activities of Governor Oyetola in order to create a false impression against the people’s governor”, the Osun State APC advised.
