Why I resigned from PDP — Osun College Council chairman, Babalola

The chairman, Governing Council of Osun State College of Education, Ila Orangun, Elder Peter Babalola, has revealed why he resigned from the ruling People’s Democratic Party, (PDP).

Babalola stated this on Tuesday in his resignation letter addressed to the party state chairman after news of his suspension from PDP surfaced.

The Chief of Staff to ex-governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, said “I am writing to formally notify you of my decision to resign my membership from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), effective immediately.

“This decision comes after careful reflection and consideration of my personal values, goals and the political direction I wish to pursue.

“I wish the PDP continued success in its future endeavours and hope for the advancement of democracy and good governance in Nigeria,” the letter stated.

Recall that the letter suspending Babalola signed by 17-member ward executives of Irewole Ward 7, dated Tuesday, August 27, was addressed to Osun State PDP chairman, Sunday Bisi.

The letter accused Babalola of engaging in acts that could put the party in disrepute for over two years.

“After exhaustive deliberation on the various anti-party activities of Elder Peter Babalola in the PDP for the past two years, and his habitual engagements in various activities that can put the party into disrepute, coupled with the fact that he has not attended the PDP ward meeting or Local Government meeting in the last two years, the executive of PDP in Ward 07, Irewole Local government hereby suspends Elder Peter Adebayo Babalola from PDP ward 07, Irewole Local Government with effect today August 27, 2024.

“By this suspension, Elder Peter Adebayo Babalola ceases to be a member of PDP ward 07, Irewole Local Government,” the letter read partly.
