What consistent investment in cable industry has earned us — Coleman
The Managing Director of Coleman Wires and Cables, Mr George Onafowokan, says the company’s consistent investment in the industry has made it the largest producer of cables in Sub Saharan Africa.
Onafowokan, who made this known at a news conference on Wednesday, said the company accounted for over 50 per cent of different products produced in the country and Sub Saharan Africa in general.
“For us, it is all about local content building, capacity building and building our own people, not only as a brand, but as a brand that believes everything made by Nigerians is good.
“It is also our pride and joy that we can say in Nigeria today, we have the biggest cable company in Sub Saharan Africa.
“That started from a micro small company in this country, with no fewer than 20 workers, and we have grown the business to the largest in less than 22 years.
“It just shows we can do it if we believe in ourselves enough to believe that investment can be done in Nigeria with a lot of good vision, focus on your vision and most importantly, discipline,” he said.
The Managing Director also said that the company had kept its standard high in the industry.
He said that the company stood out within the industry, based on its extra focus on being capable of making cables that were affordable and available within the country.
“You can only make something affordable if your capacity is big enough to bring down the price levels; and that means a lot more investment, and we have achieved that.
“We pride ourselves to say that we are a company with one of the cheapest cables you can buy with a higher quality in the country.
“Also, we pride ourselves to say that we are the only cable company that has a national based distribution: no matter where you are in this country, you should be able to access one of our distributors.
“That is because we have put in a lot of capacity to make sure cable is available generally, across the country.
“It is a game changer and a better thing for us moving forward,” Onafowokan said.
