…Restates commitment to offering its customers seamless services

CEO/Managing Director, Galaxy Backbone, Prof Muhammed Abubakar has disclosed that the agency saved Federal Government over N3bn from video conferencing while restating commitment to seamless digital infrastructure services to its customers across Nigeria.
Abubakar stated this during Galaxy Backbone’s maiden Customer Appreciation Day celebration held in Abuja on Thursday.
Customers across public and private sectors received Galaxy Backbone’s appreciation certificates for continued patronage.
Abubakar justifying the importance of the celebration said, customers are immersely valued and are Kings to Galaxy Backbone.
He also assured customers of improved services going forward through consistent land infrastructure upgrades.
“It’s usually an opportunity to take stock on how well we have performed in the delivery of our services and how well we have improved. Today we will be doing all of that and more. We will be taking this step further by celebrating and recognising you our dear customers in a way we have never done since the inception of Galaxy Backbone.
“We have noted the gaps in the market in terms of the services we provide to you and we are confident going into 2022 with the level of infrastructure we are putting down, you will begin to see greater improvement in our services.
“We realized money for the government in two ways, either in liquid cash or saving the government some spending they are supposed to make. I think you can look at Galaxy from this perspective before the other. Also our vision is to enable the private sector strive.
“For example the video conferencing that we have been championing, we have been able save the Government close to about N3bn. Joining a meeting from your house, will save you the security transportation cost, money that would have spent on entertaining and others.”
Meanwhile, the Representative of Federal Road Safety Corp, Assistant Corp Marshal, Mr Osawe Ofose, said through Galaxy Backbone services the Corp has been able to carried out smooth production of driver’s license across its numerous centres.
He said, “We have almost 350 locations being controlled by Galaxy Backbone in terms of Internet connectivity. When we talk about 350 locations, we talking about drivers license centres and I believe some of you are drivers. We have a good working relationship because they always try as much as possible to provide the services and resolve issues when there are challanges.”
Similarly, Representative of Petroleum Technology Development Fund(PTDF), Head Information Technology, Mr Ahmad Abdulkadir stated that Galaxy Backbone has been offering amazing services.
According to him, “In terms of customer support, Galaxy Backbone is amazing. From the Group Head of customer support services, they have been doing an amazing job. I personally started my relationship with them about seven years ago and through out that period there was no single time that I called and they don’t respond, in fact to the extent that at a time some of their management staff come to visit the sight to make sure that the problem has been resolved.
Earlier, CEO/Co-Founder e-Escape Technologies, Chris Abhlulimen during his presentation advocated that federal government agencies and private companies should quicky key into major digital trends such as; Artificial Intelligence(AI), Chatbots and automation, cloud services, remote works, cyber security and big data.
Galaxy Backbone is a public enterprise of the Federal Government of Nigeria incorporated in 2006 with the primary mandate of setting up and operating a unified Information and Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure platform that addresses the connectivity, transversal and other technology imperatives for Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of the Federal Government.
