We’re yet to approve N70,000 new national minimum wage – Yobe  Govt.

The Yobe State Government has refuted claims circulating on social media about the approval of a new minimum wage, stating that such information is false and misleading.

In a statement issued on Thursday in Damaturu, Alhaji Mamman Mohammed, Director-General of Press and Media Affairs to Governor Mai Mala Buni, clarified that the government had not made any official announcement regarding a new minimum wage. He explained that the matter is still under review and no statements have been issued on it yet.

Mohammed emphasized that the Yobe Government had not authorized or issued any communication concerning the new minimum wage. He criticized the social media post for being irresponsible and misleading, as it lacked details and did not indicate its source, thus diminishing its credibility.

Furthermore, Mohammed noted that a national newspaper had disassociated itself from the post, confirming that the logo used did not belong to the publication and that the story was not available on its website.

He urged the public to disregard the “deceptive and misleading” post.
