We’ll review past laws – Osun Speaker, Egbedun

The Speaker of the 8th session of the Osun State House of Assembly, Adewale Egbedun, has once again restated that the Assembly would review past laws in the state.

Egbedun made this known on Friday while fielding questions from journalists in Osogbo.

News Men recalls that the speaker was elected on Tuesday, June 6, 2023.

During his inaugural speech as Speaker, he had disclosed that the House, as composed, intended to revisit obnoxious laws and review them.

He also revealed that he had instructed the Clerk of the Assembly to furnish him with details of those laws.

Responding to questions, he said, “I have instructed the Clerk to come with all the necessary records and the bills. We will sit and deliberate on it.

“We know how it works. We are in the PDP. The last administration was APC. I realised from August 2022 to November, a lot of things happened.”

While insisting that the aim of the action is not to witch-hunt any person, the Speaker explained that there is a need to do the job at hand.

“We need to revisit and check them. We are not trying to attack or witch-hunt anyone, but we really need to do the job.

“We have the best interest of our people in mind, and we are ready to give it our very best,” he said.

On projected plans by the Assembly, Egbedun revealed that he and his colleagues had a lot of beautiful ideas to legislate on but were seeking the right platform to bring them to reality.

He advocated for more time as he believed his action would speak better.
