We’ll restore lost glory of Kano civil service – Governor-elect, Yusuf
Kano State Governor-elect, Abba Kabir Yusuf has promised to checkmate job racketeering to restore the lost glory of the state civil service when he assumes office.
This was contained in a statement signed by Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the Chief Press Secretary to the Kano State Governor-elect, to commemorate the Worker’s Day celebration on Monday.
According to the statement, “We would revisit all the wrongdoings and ensure an ethical recruitment process for all residents with the required qualifications.
“We shall not allow the civil service to be misguided by corruption and nepotism, we must check the job racketeering yr to restore the lost glory of the service.
“We would be committed to reforming the civil service as part of the efforts towards strengthening the system for effective service delivery.”
He noted that his administration will establish a training institute for civil servants to be up to date with the global best practices.
The Governor-elect explained that workers are the key element of good governance under any democratic dispensation.
“We are aware of all the problems facing the State civil servants including in conducive working conditions and shortage of manpower which have been noted for redress,” he said.
He assured the state civil servants of improved welfare, including prompt payment of salaries and pension.
