We’ll intensify provision of credible information to combat crime – PCRC
Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) in Bauchi State has reiterated its commitment to providing credible information to assist the police in combating crime and criminality in the state.
Chairman of PCRC in the state, Mr Abdullahi Maigari, stated this on Tuesday in Bauchi.
Maigari, who expressed worries over the current security challenges in the state and the country at large, said that information was a variable tool to battling crime and criminality in the state.
“Unwillingness to provide useful information to security agencies on security breaches in our localities increases the security challenges.
“PCRC will continue to build bridges between the police and members of the public for the reduction of crime in the society.
“We want to reiterate our commitment to helping the police with credible information that will ensure peace and security in the state,” he said.
Maigari explained that the primary responsibility of PCRC was to provide support and assistance to the police and other security agencies to help in prevention, prosecution and fight against crime at all levels.
“I, therefore, charge members of our committee to source and provide intelligence information that will assist the police in fighting crimes.
“I also urge you to gain the confidence of the police for the public and promote the image of the Nigeria Police Force as an institution,” he said.
The PCRC chairman said that his committee, in its efforts at creating a harmonious relationship with the police, considered it imperative to assist the police, where necessary.
“We assist in erecting police outpost, donating computers to the command and the Police Children School, provision of toilet facilities and generators in some police divisions as well as organising seminars,” he said.
Maigari said that the committee would work in synergy with other security agencies to strengthen the fight against crime in the state.
