We will strengthen transport systems, education, other sectors in 2025– Sanwo-Olu tells Lagosians

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has rolled out plans for the year 2025, focusing on strengthening Lagos transport systems, improving healthcare and education, and empowering the youth.

In a New Year message posted on X.com on Wednesday, Sanwo-Olu reiterated the importance of unity and collective effort in achieving these goals, with a commitment to fostering shared prosperity and transforming Lagos into a hub of progress and innovation.

He reaffirmed his administration commitment to healthcare and education, empowering youth, and growing the economy.

He wrote: “2025: A Year of Togetherness, Bold Ambitions, New Beginnings and Shared Prosperity

“As we embrace the opportunities of a new year, Lagos is poised to achieve even greater heights. With bold goals and a focus on shared prosperity, we will continue to transform our city into a beacon of progress, innovation, and unity.

“The resilience and energy of Lagosians remain our greatest asset. In 2025, we will strengthen transport systems, improve healthcare and education, empower our youth, and grow our economy.

“Together, we will create opportunities that uplift every resident of Lagos.

“Lagos is more than a city—it’s a promise of hope, progress, and limitless possibilities. To every Lagosian, thank you for your trust and dedication. Let’s make 2025 a year of extraordinary achievements, together.

This is Lagos, and we lead.”

Earlier, he reinstated his administration’s vision to build a greater Lagos.

In a statement issued on Wednesday following his attendance at the 2025 Crossover night event tagged Greater Lagos Countdown, The governor recounted his administration’s achievements in the year 2024 in governance, infrastructure, and social development.

Lagos, according to him, witnessed the launching transformative projects like the Red Line Rail, expansion of Blue Line operations, and delivery of groundbreaking initiatives in health, education, and youth empowerment.

He, however, pledged to continue to lead, inspire, and deliver on the trust bestowed on his administration by Lagosians in 2025.

“As we step into 2025, I celebrate the resilience, innovation, and unity that defined our journey through 2024.

“Together, we navigated challenges, achieved historic milestones, and set new benchmarks for excellence in governance, infrastructure, and social development.

“In 2024, Lagos rose to new heights—launching transformative projects like the Red Line Rail, expanding our Blue Line operations, and delivering groundbreaking initiatives in health, education, and youth empowerment.

“We became a beacon for progress and an example of what’s possible when leadership and people align.

“This year, our vision remains clear: to build a Greater Lagos that works for all. We will focus on sustainable infrastructure, drive economic growth, and deepen community impact through innovative programs. The future of Lagos is bold, inclusive, and limitless.

“Lagos is not just a city; it is an energy, a movement, and a promise. In 2025, we will continue to lead, inspire, and deliver on the trust you have placed in us.

“Together, we will write the next great chapter of our story.” the statement read.

Meanwhile, in a separate post on his official Facebook page, Sanwo-Olu lauded the electric performance of Nigerian music artists at the Greater Lagos Countdown 2025.

He described the event as a celebration like no other as he expressed his gratitude to the artists who performed at the event.

“Last night, Lagos came alive in a way that only Lagos can! The energy at the Greater Lagos Countdown 2025 was electric, with the vibrant spirit of our people shining through every moment. It was a celebration like no other. Lagos is home.

“A heartfelt thank you to the incredible artists who honoured Lagos’ call to perform and made the night unforgettable—Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Burna Boy, Olamide, Seyi Vibez, and many more. Your talent and passion lit up the stage and brought joy to every corner of Lagos.

“To the amazing residents of Lagos who came together in unity, celebrating as one people with one purpose—thank you for showing the world the true Lagos spirit.

“Together, we ushered in 2025 with unmatched energy and pride. This is Lagos, and we lead.” Sanwo-Olu added.
